The Fishing Experience

At Futaleufú Fly Fishing, our knowledge and experience allow us to offer our guests some of the best fly fishing opportunities in central Patagonia.

No matter the season, we provide a wide variety of productive fishing options for brown, rainbow, and brook trout. Some of the world-class fisheries available to our anglers include the Futaleufú, Arrayanes, Rivadavia, Carrileufú, and Corcovado rivers, as well as Kruger and Verde lakes, and several smaller lakes and streams in the Río Pico area.

But great fishing is about more than just location—it’s about knowing when and where to fish. Our expert guides carefully plan your itinerary based on seasonal hatches, river conditions, and weather patterns to maximize your chances of success.

Most of our fishing trips include a mix of floating (in rafts or boats) and walk-wade opportunities, giving you the chance to experience different waters and fishing styles throughout your trip.

Fishing Techniques & Guiding

Each guest will fish with one or two anglers per guide, ensuring personalized attention and expert advice throughout the experience. Depending on the conditions, you’ll use a variety of fly fishing techniques, including:

· Casting big terrestrials

· Throwing streamers for aggressive strikes

· Fishing dry-dropper rigs for selective trout

Our experienced guides know these waters intimately and will help you make the most of your time on the water.

Our waters

Patagonia is a dream destination for fly fishing, offering a variety of high-quality waters within the same region. From powerful rivers to intimate spring creeks, every angler will find the perfect challenge. Our waters are home to rainbow trout, brown trout and brook trout, offering incredible fishing experiences in breathtaking landscapes.

Los Alerces National Park & Futaleufú

Futaleufú River (Río Grande) Originating in Los Alerces National Park, the Futaleufú River, known as Río Grande on the Argentine side, is a premier fly fishing destination. Its name comes from the Mapuche language, meaning “Big River” or “Río Grande”. The river’s crystal-clear waters are home to strong and acrobatic rainbow trout, as well as large, aggressive brown trout. With its combination of fast runs and deep pools, it offers a world-class experience for both
floating and wade fishing.
Lakes of Los Alerces National Park Los Alerces National Park is home to a stunning system of glacial lakes, offering some of the best fishing in Patagonia:

 · Lake Rivadavia – Famous for its crystal-clear waters and trophy-sized rainbow and brown trout. The Rivadavia River, which connects this lake to Lake Verde, offers spectacular wade and drift fishing.

 · Lake Verde – A smaller, picturesque lake known for its emerald-green waters and strong brown trout population.

· Lake Futalaufquen – The largest lake in the park, home to rainbow, brook and brown trout, with deep waters.

Corcovado River & Surrounding Lakes

The Corcovado River is one of the most exciting and diverse fly fishing destinations in Patagonia. It is divided into two distinct sections, each offering a unique experience:

 · Upper Corcovado – Crystal-clear waters This section of the river flows through pristine Andean valleys and is exclusively inhabited by rainbow and brook trout.

· Middle Corcovado – A whitewater river As the river gains speed, it transforms into a powerful whitewater river, offering a thrilling experience for anglers. Here, the primary species are rainbow and brown trout, which thrive in the fast-moving currents and deep pools.

Engaño Lake

A hidden gem in the Andean foothills, Engaño Lake is exclusively home to brook trout. This remote, glacial-fed lake is perfect for anglers seeking solitude and the opportunity to catch large brook trout in a pristine wilderness setting.
Lakes Pico Uno, Dos, Tres, Cuatro, and Cinco These glacial lakes in the Rio Pico basin offer fantastic opportunities to catch brown, rainbow, and brook trout. Their remote location and diverse fishing conditions make them an exciting addition to any Patagonian fly fishing adventure.
